LIIAR - Language

Using specific media language Q includes on its front page such technical factor as a clear masthead, with the iconic red background now synonymous with the Q brand. In addition a conventional close up of 'superstar' Kylie Minogue dominating the majority of the cover. Price, date of release, barcode and web address are also conventions which have been adhered too. Complimenting the image of Kylie Minogue is a strapline giving further information as to what expect inside. Several other contents are promoted on the cover using text (specific to the target audience) - the only other feature uses a smaller image of Kelly and Sharon Osbourne located bottom right, again complete with information in text form - the idea of including a picture with the content is to show its significance. A simple blank background is in use, therefore not taking any attention away from the conventionally dominating image.

With regards to the contents page 'regular features' portrayed in the 'Every Month' section are present, as is 'Q Review' where the publication uses rhyme to promote its other section, specific to the field of music in which new albums, song etc are rated. Five images, all of a similar size are also present, complete with the page number and caption. A simple white background leaves the contents page looking simple and increases the emphasis on the text and imaging, leaving the page as informative as possible.

Seemingly a convention of a double-page spread is too have a consistent background throughout both pages, in Q's example black is evident. A large sub-heading and image (mid-shot) are also present. Q have ensured the lettering is legible by using a simple font and white text (against the black background). With regards to text it is seemingly optional with regards to quantity, a large image could dominate, almost speaking for itself or text as in the case could be in place, producing an informative piece. Page number and Q logo are conventional inclusions.
