Research - Conventions Of The Front Page Of College Magazine

With regards to the magazine entitled 'College' which I have located it would appear that conventions of the front page of a magazine with a target audience which matches mine includes a large image dominating the majority of the page, this image is a medium close-up which makes 'College' magazine an ideal example as I have been instructed to do the same. The model used for the image is young, attractive, and seemingly happy, this gives an ideology which the college no doubt wants to promote. The image is so large it even overlaps a slight segment of the title. As early mentioned the production is entitled 'College' which despite stating the obvious leads the reader to be immediately aware of the content of the magazine. The colouring of the lettering of the title is a red colour, delibaretly matching the clothing of the model used. Background wise a shot of trees and 'greenery' are prominent - i cannot be sure however it is presumed this is a shot of the college bounds, and as the target audience are students of this particular college, the idea I believe is to catch the eye of the potential reader with the familiarity that this connotes. Provided in the space left either side of the main image is text informing us of the contents we are to find inside the magazine - these choices are presumably the five most important and/or exciting contents featured inside. Alongside the barcode located on the bottom right of the 'College' magazines front page is text indicating that the production is 100% free - this encourages students to circulate the magazine without having to pay - it is a stereotype for students to struggle financially and this gesture shows that the people who publish 'College' understand students needs. 'College' may very well not make money from sales of the magazine, however it is expected there will be 'offers' and invites to social evenings inside which will generate finance.
